Black Pyramid

Black Pyramid⛰️ — the highest point of the Krasnaya Polyana mountain cluster (2375 m) and one of the most impressive viewpoints on the entire Black Sea coast of the Caucasus. Located on the Aibga Ridge, this peak is the only one in the area offering a full 360-degree panoramic view. The main feature of the location — the scale and grandeur of the views: from here, snow-capped peaks of the Main Caucasian Ridge, the deep valley of the Mzymta River, neighboring resorts Rosa Khutor and Gazprom are clearly visible, and on clear days — even the mirror-like surface of the Black Sea on the horizon. Access is possible by cable car (up to 2300 m) followed by a short hike, or entirely on foot for experienced hikers. This place has a special, elevated energy and gives a feeling of complete unity with the mountains. An ideal choice for lovers of high-altitude landscapes, landscape photographers, and those who want to see the Caucasus in all its glory without complex mountaineering.

ℹ️Peak features:

  • 360° panorama: a unique circular view, unavailable at other points of the resort; the opportunity to see the sea, mountains, and valleys simultaneously.

  • Altitude and climate: the 2375 m mark means the presence of snowfields even in summer, strong winds, and sharp temperature changes; nature here is harsh and beautiful.

  • Accessibility: the ascent by the "Caucasus Express" cable car (Gorki Gorod resort) to an altitude of 2300 m makes the peak accessible to a wide range of tourists, not just professional mountaineers.

  • Atmosphere: silence, space, and a sense of achievement; a place where you just want to stand and look, forgetting about time.

✅Who it is suitable for:

  • Mountain and nature lovers — a chance to see some of the best views in the region without the need for a multi-day hike.

  • Photographers and bloggers — incredible shots at sunrise and sunset, panoramas, cloud timelapses, and a starry sky at night.

  • Hikers and trekkers — the route from the upper cable car station to the peak takes about 30–40 minutes and does not require special equipment (in summer).

📝Practical tips:

  • How to get there: "Krasnaya Polyana", "Polyana 2300" level, then on foot along a marked trail (~800 m elevation gain). From Adler or Sochi ~40–50 minutes by transport to the resort.

  • Footwear and clothing: hiking boots with ankle support are mandatory. It is always cold and windy at altitude: take a membrane jacket, hat, gloves, and sunglasses (snow blinds the eyes). Even in summer, the weather can change suddenly.

  • Best time: clear weather without clouds and strong winds (otherwise there will be no view). Morning (sunrise) and evening (sunset) provide the most beautiful light. Check the weather forecast and webcams before ascending.

  • Safety: do not approach the edge of cliffs, follow the trail markings. Do not climb to the very peak in fog or poor visibility. Have water and a snack with you.

🗺️Integration into the location: Nearby are other resort levels, restaurants, hotels, spas. To the Black Sea coast ~40–50 minutes by transport.

Operating hours: according to the cable car schedule.

Entrance: paid (cable car ride).
